Magic Whistle No. 9 by Sam Henderson

This was cheap, but I'm afraid not quite cheap enough. (I got it at half price from the sale shelf at Midtown Comics, my local.) Henderson has a very juvenile style (he draws like a seventh grader -- on purpose, I assume -- and has subject matter to match), which didn't click with me the way I hoped it would.

I do like Henderson's art style -- it looks very quick and scratchy, and has energy to spare -- and I have to admit that it very well matches his subject matter. But I just found Magic Whistle to be a long stretch of not-terribly-funny sex and bodily function jokes. It was funny intermittently, but not enough to be really satisfying. Oh, well. You can't win every time.
